Scarsdale Global Citizenship Day & Non-Sibi Day

During sessions on Global Citizenship Day and Non-Sibi Day, NYSEC led sessions on civil discourse, citizenship knowledge, and First Amendment rights. They engaged students with an introduction on these concepts, followed by an icebreaker activity where participants discussed scenarios like school policies and controversial books to practice respectful debate. The session also included a poll to assess students’ news consumption and a discussion on the reliability of sources. Finally, students explored case studies on First Amendment rights, such as Tinker v. Des Moines, and applied these concepts to campus scenarios, promoting civic engagement and critical thinking.
