Letter to Governor Hochul - NY S09018

The bill, now signed, ensures that each local school district holds a minimum of one ex-officio (non-voting) student member on the school board. This was an important step towards increasing student civic involvement within their own school districts, and their civic lives as a whole. NYSEC's letter to Hochul on the bill, signed into law just a week after, outlines the cruciality of laws as such.

Scarsdale Hot Topics Room

With a lead developing role, NYSEC has worked with Scarsdale administrators and students alike to design a "Hot Topics Room." This is VITAL. With the room's structure, students are given a unique opportunity to have freely flowing conversations on topics they rarely get to discuss. An opportunity both students and adults agree they need. Topics can range from immigration to an election to the middle east. NYSEC can provide all materials, training, guidance, and more. Details on structure, materials, staffing, and more are to the right.
