Seeing the alarming rise in polarization between October 7th, COVID, and the 2020 & 2024 elections, I decided I needed to do something about it, to rebuild the burned bridges whose fires seemed to be spreading each day. I founded NYSEC in 2023 with that exact goal: to teach people how to stand in respectful difference while having productive conversations, and it starts with our students. Since its inception as a grassroots organization in our hometown school, we have grown to working with educators across the state and presented multiple times in Albany. This is something I am truly passionate about and will continue to work towards complete civic education integration across New York for as long as I possibly can. Otherwise, I love talking about current and historical events, but perhaps not as much as I do the Cincinnati Bengals.
